AMwA is a feminist Pan-African leadership development organisation founded by African women living in the diaspora who remained keenly aware of their African roots and the need to organise autonomously. Its work is guided by the Charter of Feminist Principles for African Feminists, which defines its leadership development programme and movement-building activities. AMwA envisions a dignified and equitable feminist society for African women, girls and gender-expansive persons, and it aims to build feminist leadership and collective power to deconstruct intersectional systems of oppression and advance gender and social justice.
AMwA is committed to supporting community-driven initiatives and fostering social impact. As a fiscal host, it creates partnerships, strengthens institutions, builds individual capacity, increases visibility and develops sustainable solutions. The goal is to empower organisations, projects and individuals who need additional infrastructure or resources to manage their finances and administrative needs independently. AMwA aims to create a supportive ecosystem through fiscal hosting where innovative and impactful projects can thrive, ultimately contributing to a more equitable and just society.
