The Financing Alliance for Health (FAH) is an African-led, Africa-based, and Africa-focused non-governmental organization that works with African governments at the national, subnational, and regional levels to design and mobilize at-scale financing for community health systems. In 2020, FAH launched a fiscal sponsorship program to support the incubation and growth of high-impact social enterprises and community health initiatives. In recent times, it has expanded this fiscal sponsorship program to support organizations and initiatives in other sectors, beyond health.
Today, the Financing Alliance for Health provides sector-agnostic fiscal sponsorship and back-office support across education, nutrition, WASH, gender equality, economic empowerment, the environment, and much more. FAH leverages its established systems, including formal legal structures and first-rate fiduciary management platforms, to bridge the gap between global funders and African-led solutions, increasing equitable access to resources. It is incorporated as a 501(c)(3) in the United States of America, and in Kenya as a Company Limited by Guarantee in Nairobi.
As a fiscal host, the Financing Alliance for Health (FAH) is motivated by the need to bridge the structural gap between global capital and African-led innovation. Our primary objective is to provide a robust, compliant, and "sector-agnostic" platform that handles the complexities of fiduciary management, legal compliance, and back-office operations. By absorbing these administrative burdens, FAH empowers social enterprises and NGOs in sectors ranging from WASH and education to gender equality and economic empowerment to focus entirely on their mission-critical work. We aim to democratize access to global funding for local social innovators and changemakers by providing the institutional framework necessary for them to meet the rigorous standards of international donors, thereby ensuring that high-impact solutions are not stalled by a lack of infrastructure.
