Mission

ZGF strengthens the capacities of local communities and civil society to unlock and utilise available and untapped resources for sustainable development. It envisions a Zambian society where local communities are empowered to realise their rights and shape their own development.

The absence of local fiscal hosting organisations creates a gap in back-office support for smaller, informal grassroots groups, activists and civic organisations. By offering fiscal hosting services, ZGF advances the field of community philanthropy, expands its network, and solidifies its credibility as a field builder, connector and convener. It also exposes its staff to new topics and challenges while supporting ZGF's mission to enhance financial sustainability.

Africa Philanthropy Network, CIVICUS, NEAR, Zambia Alliance for Agroecology and Biodiversity

Organisations must align with ZGF's organisational philosophy. Organisations with unclear mandates and objectives, disguised as local organisations while being the local branch of INGOs and promoting narrow political and religious agendas, are not eligible.
