DRDO contributes to improving the livelihood and self-sufficiency of the poor and marginalised population in the urban and rural areas of Eastern Ethiopia. It works with vulnerable community groups by strengthening community-based institutions, creating institutional linkages, and enhancing their capacities to overcome social and economic problems. This leads communities to become owners of development programmes and processes.

DRDO is committed to supporting grassroots initiatives and empowering local organisations in Ethiopia. By offering fiscal hosting services, it aims to streamline administrative processes, enhance financial management and enable its partners to focus on their core missions. DRDO's objectives include fostering sustainable development, increasing organisational efficiency, and ensuring transparency and accountability when using funds. It strives to create a robust ecosystem that amplifies the impact of community-driven projects and contributes to the region's overall progress.
